Happy Birthday to Camille

Camille is 27 today, Hooray.

1772 - Slavery was outlawed in England.

1868 - Arkansas was re-admitted to the Union.

1870 - The U.S. Congress created the Department of Justice.

1911 - King George V of England was crowned.

1939 - The first actual telecast of beauty contest took place from Flushing Meadows.

1939 - Joe Louis defeated Max Schmeling in 124 seconds.

1946 - Jet airplanes were used to transport mail for the first time.

1959 - Chuck Berry's "Memphis" was released.

1959 - Eddie Lubanski rolled 24 consecutive strikes in a bowling tournament in Miami, FL.

1963 - The Safaris' "Wipe Out" was released

1964 - Principal photography began on the Elvis Presley movie "Girl Happy" at MGM Studios. Visitors to the set included George Hamilton and his then girlfriend Lynda Bird Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon Johnson.

1964 - The U.S. Supreme Court voted that Henry Miller’s book, "Tropic of Cancer", could not be banned.

1969 - Judy Garland died from an accidental overdose of prescription sleeping aids. She was 47.

1970 - U.S. President Richard Nixon signed 26th amendment, lowering the voting age to 18.

1977 - John N. Mitchell became the first former U.S. Attorney General to go to prison as he began serving a sentence for his role in the Watergate cover-up. He served 19 months.

1980 - Mike & Marsha Hickman gave birth to Camille Hickman.

1981 - Mark David Chapman pled guilty to killing John Lennon.

1990 - Billy Joel became the first rock artist to perform at Yankee Stadium.

1995 - Michael Jackson was presented an award for his humanitarian work at the VH1 Honors. The award was later renamed the "Michael Jackson Special Award."

1998 - The 75th National Marbles Tournament begins in Wildwood, NJ.

2001 - The final episode of "Xena: Warrior Princess" aired.

2003 - Michelle Wie won her first USGA title at the age of 13. She was the youngest person to win any adult USGA event.
