Brooklyn is a week old and mom is just so relieved to have the first week over. I have to admit I was a little worried about how crazy things might be once I was back at home and trying to figure out how to juggle the needs of two babies. Fortunately, Brooklyn sleeps most of the time so it makes things not so crazy. Alyson is so good with her little sister she is constantly giving her kisses and trying to help in any way that she can.
Things for the most part have gone smoothly. We have had a couple sleepless nights and we just hope they are the exception instead of the rule. Brooklyn is a little bit of a night owl so the other night I was up with her until about 11:30 and she finally fell asleep at which point Alyson who is having no problem sleeping through the night woke up and started crying it took about an hour to get her to calm down and go back to sleep at which point Brooklyn began fussing I got her out of the crib just in time to hear the sound of a definite, earth shaking, blow out. I did not want to turn on the light and wake up Andrew so I went down stairs to change her sure enough she was a mess. I was trying to clean her up and she was not happy she was crying so loud that once again Alyson started crying again. I hoped that she would just cry herself back to sleep so I finished cleaning up and feeding Brooklyn I finally got her back to sleep but Alyson was still crying so I spent about another 45 minutes trying to sooth her back to sleep needless to say by the end of the night (or should I say morning) I was so tired I thought there is no way I can do this every night but luckily that has really been the worst of it so far.
Alyson has been a little restless being cooped up at home this last week so we decided to buy her a little wade pool so she could get out of the house and have a little break. So we are now settling more into the routine of things.
