Our Week in Avon

It has been an eventful week. We spent the week at our timeshare in Avon. It was our first road trip with Brooklyn and Alyson so that was an adventure by itself. Luckily the trip is only about three hours away so it was not to bad.

Alyson loved being able to go swimming everyday. We found that if we went swimming right before nap and bedtime it made our job a lot easier. She is becoming quite the swimmer she loves to go under water over and over again and is really good at holding her breath. She also loves to jump off the wall to dad and no matter how many times she does it never gets old.

On Wednesday we spent sometime up at Piney Lake. Although it was beautiful and we would of loved to spend hours hiking around it did not take long for the girls to decide they had enough wilderness time, but it is definitely on our list of places to return to.

Foote was determined to get in some fishing time, but unfortunately Aly does not make a very good fishing buddy every time he cast his line out and put his pole down Aly thought it meant it was her turn to play with the fishing pole. She was not very happy when she was told she could not play with the fishing pole. Foote did finally catch something. He decided to try his luck at night time fishing he cast his line out and than he felt a bite on the line he began reeling in but the strange thing was that his line was coming in from an upwards direction. He finally realized that a bat had snatched his lure out of the water and he was reeling in a bat. He decided to cut the line.

On Friday we spent sometime in Vail and were able to ride the gondola up and enjoy some of the beautiful views from on to of the world.

On our way home Saturday we spent some time in Central City. It is a little gambling town outside of Denver. It has a lot of amazing history we were able to tour the restored opera house and some other historical sites although our timing was not very good we
Were there on the opening night of the opera season and things were really crazy so the tour guide informed us we could do the tour but we did not have much time before they stoped giving tours for the day. So we said no problem Brooklyn was asleep and Alyson was being really well behaved or so we thought. We started the tour and we had not even got through the first part and Brooklyn woke up messed her diaper and was crying to be fed and Aly decided the tour was not moving at a pace that she approved of so was randomly screaming every few minutes to let the tour guide she was bored and we should move on to the next room of the tour. Needless to say it was a long afternnon and left me remembering why we don’t make stops on the way home.

So fun to get away - you are brave to go with two little ones but it looks like you had a great time. Some of the pictures wouldn't open up for me in the middle.
Anyway I hope everything is going good. More pictures of Brooklyn please. Can't wait to see you next month.

I'm impressed with all you took on in one weekend. That's a lot of stress on parents, but sounds like you handled it well. It's so nice to get a change of scenery, and Colorado is one of the best places to do that.
