My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance. ~Author Unknown

I have a question for all of you neat freaks out there. How do you do it? I am serious how do you find enough time in the day to keep an immaculate (or even clean) house and do everything else? This is a talent I would really like to have, but it seems that I just fall further and further behind. So what are your secret strategies?

I am trying to make some effort my mom and I are currently swapping a day at each others house once a week to get our deep cleaning done this includes washing walls, baseboards, cleaning window sills, cleaning blinds, washing out cupboards and throwing away clutter. We thought one day would be enough to attack one room, but my kitchen ended up being a two day project. I really need to do a better job staying organized. How do I accumulate all this stuff?

I just created a list of things that I would really like to change about myself and one is to be cleaner and more organized. So I need your secrets keeping in mind that I only have about 2-3 hours a day to devout to any house work. Is that my problem? Do I not give it enough time?

I devote one day to cleaning...Monday's are my cleaning day & I set aside the day to do it. We don't run errands, we don't do anything but maybe a quick trip to the park & the rest of the day is cleaning. Even the girls help me these days but I find that when I spread it out I felt like I was cleaning all the time so I like having just one day where I do my "cleaning" and the rest of the week I just pick up. Keeps me from stressing out. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I thought I was a fairly neat person till I moved. Cleaning my house for the new people took like five times the amount of time than I thought it would. I feel like I clean all day and you would never know it. I've decided with kids you can't have a perfect house. I just try to have certain areas that are always clean and try not think about the others. Good Luck.

For what it's worth (and I've really been enjoying your blog, by the way--I think we should talk sometime, start a Moms-Trying-Hard-Not-To-Go-Insane-Despite-Our-Kids-Constantly-Pushing-Us-Over-the-Brink club)...

Like April, I have a cleaning day. On Fridays. But I can only get through about half a day (or until 1 or 2) before I feel like I'm through. I love having a clean house--I just don't like the process of getting there. So there are a few things I try to keep up with daily--dishes, laundry, wiping down kitchen counters/surfaces, throwing out the crud that accumulates magically at any given spot, vacuuming the main level. I'm trying to find ways to get the kids involved, at least Brennan and Abby. It's worked best to get them to put away all the stuff on their bedroom floors and in the family room, and then I put on Tom & Jerry for whatever period of time it takes to clean the bathrooms and vacuum their rooms. So they can mess them up again.

Sorry--probably not exceedingly helpful. And we always stress to the max when we have company, so our house always LOOKS clean. But I'd say that probably your (and my) biggest obstacle to a cleaner, organized house would be your kids' ability to instantly undo any progress you've made. But we love 'em anyway!
